The Grace That is Revealed

"Perhaps it is not yet quite clear to you that each decision that you make is one between a grievance and a miracle. Each grievance stands like a dark shield of hate before the miracle it would conceal. And as you raise it up before your eyes, you will not see the miracle beyond. Yet all the while it waits for you in Light; but you behold your grievances instead." -- A Course in Miracles; Workbook Lesson 78, 1:1-4

"All stories are simply stories." -- Catherine Ingram

How often do we realize that our stories... good, bad, right, or wrong... are grievances that hide the miracle each holy instant holds? Our stories of necessity take us out of now and plunge us into the fictional past and the imaginary future. So the now we think we see is mere projection of our own stories, over and over in seemingly endless twists and turns. But like any good soap opera, it's really the same formulaic plots and characters, over and over and over again.

What is the miracle that is revealed when all stories are well and truly dropped? The shining radiance of the Truth of Being. The Allness of God, and our eternal Oneness with It. And within this miracle lies the wholeness and love and abundant goodness that we mistakenly look for within our stories. The miracle is the miracle. "Thy Grace is my sufficiency in all things."

We need look no further than the stories in our own minds. They are our ticket home. Forgive them, release them, and see what remains when all stories are dropped. The Grace that is revealed is so all-encompassing and all-fulfilling that it defies all words and all stories.

"Today we go beyond the grievances, to look upon the miracle instead. We will reverse the way we see." -- A Course in Miracles; Workbook Lesson 78, 2:1-2
