"A miracle is a correction... it reminds the mind that what it sees is false. A miracle inverts perception which was upside down before, and thus it ends the strange distortions that were manifest." -- A Course in Miracles
This time of year has often been referred to as the Season of Miracles. In all traditions there are celebrations of Light that take place. In my childhood I believed absolutely in miracles. However, my belief was based on an outside force and so my perception was upside down and backwards. When the outside forces failed, which they always do sooner or later, that belief was shattered. This seemingly painful time was actually a miracle in itself since it ultimately turned my gaze within. The real gift of the miracle is this return of our perception to Source.
As Jeshua ben Joseph said, the Kingdom of Heaven, the Awareness of Perfect Oneness and Unity is within us. The miracle always returns our love and attention to this Source of all. What effortlessly and organically arises out of this healed perception is always loving and always more beautiful than we can imagine. The lights that shine everywhere in this Holy Season symbolize this illumination of healed perception that is the miracle.
In the Christian tradition the baby Jeshua was born under appalling conditions, apparently unwanted and unseen by the world around him, with the exception of his parents. And yet... out of this humble beginning arose a Love that continues to illuminate the Truth within all of us. And isn't this is always the miracle? That out of the less-than-ideal circumstances of our everyday lives, the Truth of Being is being re-born in each of us... re-born and healing our upside-down perceptions each and every moment we are open and welcoming the Light within, our true Source and true Self.
"A sense of separation from God is the only perception you really need correct." -- A Course in Miracles
